- Gunas-
Understanding the Forces of the Mind - 9am to 12pm
The body is said to be a manifestation of the mind. The traditions of
yoga say it is home to the tension that resides within us
mentally or physically. The Gunas are humors of the mind and are
the primal forces of our individual creation. This is why the
ancients saw the state of mind that exists during our practice of yoga as
the most important aspect. The quality of mind we bring to
any experience will ultimately determine how we relate to
it. Lecture, asana practice, pranayama, meditation and
relaxation.
-
The
Prana Vayus- Discovering the Currents of Life Force Within Us - 2pm -
5pm
The
"currents of life force" or "Prana Vayus"
in the body are divided into five types according to its
movement and direction. They are the energies responsibile for
all operations of the body and mind. The postures of yoga a
simply forms of the body that we breath into. Using the breath to
stimulate these pranic forces can greatly enhance our understanding
and use of yogic postures. Lecture, asana
practice, pranayama, meditation and relaxation.
-
Evening
Satsang - Prakriti
and its Evolutes (How our Individuality Manifests) - 7:30pm - 9:30pm
- Do you find yoga philosophy inscrutable? Curious to
to know more about the foundational principles behind yoga and
self-realization, but just can't muster up the interest in reading
yoga texts? Join Tracee, Everett and the Yoga Teacher Traineees
for a mind-expanding evening of lecture, discussion and Q&A on
Sankhya philosophy -- the basis of Sage Patanjali's 2000-year old
scripture, Yoga Sutras. According
to Sankhya philosophy, we can retrace consciousness back through the
levels of manifestation to its source. In doing so, we
not only open doorways to expanded perception, realization and
awareness, but we also begin to comprehend our elemental nature, thus
inviting us through yoga practice to thrive on every level. To
have a general understanding of this process is extremely useful in
the practice of Yoga.

Ayurveda
-Introduction to a Life of Balance - 9am
to 12pm
Is
often referred to as the medical science of the Vedas and
considered a sister science to yoga and Tantra. Through this
discipline we learn how the elemental forces of nature -- Earth,
water, Fire, Air and Ether -- condense to create our own
unique expression of life, the self. In Ayurveda, the doshas
are humors of the body that are defined by this condensation of the
elements. Understanding these forces and there interaction gives great
insight into many aspects of our life, from health care, diet or
designing a yoga practice that serves us best. Lecture,
asana practice, pranayama, meditation and relaxation.
-
The
Nadis - A Discovery of the Solar and Lunar Forces of the Energy Body -
2pm - 5pm
The
energies of the body and mind are subject to tidal rhythms of our own
nature, much like the earth oceans are subject to the cycles of the
sun and moon. Understand how this effects our yogic practices and
our daily life from work to relaxation is an aim of Yogic tradition.
Lecture, asana practice, pranayama, meditation and
relaxation.
